Cardiff City secured promotion to the Premier League on Sunday even though they were held to a 0-0 draw with Reading.

However, with Fulham falling to a 3-1 defeat at Birmingham City it meant the Bluebirds didn't need the three points and enjoyed a comfortable afternoon.

It capped off a remarkable season for Neil Warnock and ensured he set a record by becoming the only manager to win an eighth promotion in English football.

The former Sheffield United manager created a very strong squad on a limited budget that was far inferior to many of their rivals.

Built on a solid defence with excellent organisation, the Bluebirds were hard to beat and a major threat with their physical and direct approach.

The centre-back combination of Sean Morrison and Sol Bamba were outstanding, whilst the likes of Joe Ralls and Junior Hoilett further up the pitch were key to Cardiff's success.

As our graphic shows, here at FLW we made captain Morrison Player of the Season ahead of the many other candidates.

Another vital figure was Callum Paterson who perfectly demonstrated the strength and character of this team.

Signed as a right-back, the former Hearts man moved into an unfamiliar midfield role and managed to hit double figures for the campaign.

Whilst many critics hit out at the way Cardiff played, they were clearly very effective and the strong mentality within the group was evident with how they managed to pick up 27 wins in the season.

Ultimately, Warnock summed up the scale of this promotion by describing it as his biggest achievement in football which is some statement given the work he has done in his long career.

Now, the Premier League awaits and those in the top-flight will not look forward to welcoming Warnock's men.
