West Brom are poised to sign Newcastle's Jacob Murphy, with the winger set to join up for the remainder of the season.

That's according to Football Insider, who say that the Baggies have seen off competition to land the exciting former Norwich City man.

The 23-year-old has struggled to get regular game time this season under Rafa Benitez so a move wouldn't be a surprise.

As well as that, Albion are on the lookout for a winger after the influential Harvey Barnes was recalled by Leicester following a brilliant spell at The Hawthorns.

Therefore, this seems like a very good move from Darren Moore as he looks to strengthen his squad for their promotion push.

But, what do our writers think of this potential deal?

We take a look...

Alfie Burns

"What a signing this would be for Albion.

"Murphy might not have been a hit in the Premier League, but he’s an outstanding Championship player.

"This cushions the Barnes blow and will help to bring a balance back to Darren Moore’s attack."

Jacob Potter

"This is the perfect replacement for Barnes.

"Murphy has the pace and trickery to cause all sorts of problems for opposition defences going forward.

"This could be the missing piece in the promotion jigsaw for West Brom if he can find his feet quickly."

Louie Chandler

"The perfect January signing.

"There has understandably been plenty of concern around West Brom in the past weeks with regards how they will replace Barnes.

"Murphy has proven Championship quality and if they could get him it would be an unbelievable boost as well as a bit of a mental blow to Norwich."
