Leeds United have become one of the sides to watch this summer with their ambitious and aggressive stance in terms of recruitment.

Of course, they're yet to sign anyone but big names have been linked and Marcelo Bielsa's appointment as manager cannot be played down in terms of how big a statement it is.

Many are expecting the Argentine to make some serious changes to things like the club's formation with a 3-3-3-1 one of his favourite systems to utilise.

And, with that relying on a top class centre-forward leading the line, our latest FLW Elements feature is exploring whether Britt Assombalonga would be the ideal fit:

Of course, Middlesbrough will want to recoup much of what they spent on the player only last year but Leeds evidently have the finance and here we're looking at his merits and detractions independently from a fee.

A lone man in Bielsa's system needs to provide a number of things. He needs to be mobile, a physical presence and a hard-presser of the football - often seen as the one that triggers the process.

Assombalonga, then, would suit the role in many ways. He's an out and out number 9, a real powerhouse and possesses great movement and pace.

Surprisingly, though, he could perhaps hold the ball up better and in a system where he'll need to bring others into play, that could be a detraction for Bielsa.

Equally, he does tend to pick up knocks more than some and with the Argentine manager wanting to adopt a high-intensity, robust style of football, would that eventually wear Assombalonga down?

Certainly, he is a good Championship player with plenty of attributes you'd want in a leading man but Bielsa's emphasis on tireless industry and link-up between the lines might mean other attackers are better suited to the role.
