Bristol City manager Lee Johnson was not only considering incomings on transfer deadline day with 22-year-old Robins defender Taylor Moore completing a loan move to Blackpool for the remainder of the season, as confirmed on the Blackpool official club website.

Moore has made 24 appearances for the Robins this season, netting his first goal in City colours against Preston North End back in September but Head Coach Lee Johnson has confirmed: “Taylor has had an impressive start to the season and to keep his development programme going forward this is a beneficial move. It is an opportunity for him to go and get more regular game time at a good level, which was key to the decision.”

Do you feel Bristol City have made the right call in offloading Moore on loan?

"This move comes as a surprise personally, as Moore seemed to be growing into the centre-back role quite well this season for Bristol City.

"However, Filip Benkovic's arrival on deadline day left Lee Johnson with no choice but to send the 22-year-old on loan back to League One.

"Moore may feel hard done by with this call from the club, having made a total of sixteen starts for the Robins this season in the league. That shows that game time was not the main issue here.

"All in all, the defender now needs to show his qualities for Blackpool for the remainder of the campaign, and prove to his parent club that they made the wrong call."

Kris Smith

“With the lack of depth in their side at centre-back, it was an interesting decision to let Moore go out for the rest of the season.

“While Moore might not be consistently performing at first-team level for a side pushing for promotion this season, it would have been beneficial to have more depth.

“Having signed Filip Benkovic on deadline day, there might have been a surplus of defenders there in Lee Johnson’s eyes.

“Moore will play a lot more at Blackpool than he will at Bristol City for the rest of the season so in the long term, this is smart business to help the 22-year-old develop a lot quicker.”

Louie Chandler

"I don't think this was a good move from the Robins.

"That is not because I don't think he will improve at Blackpool. Simon Grayson has put together an impressive defensive unit at Bloomfield Road so I am sure he will improve a lot.

"With Curtis Tilt leaving as well first-team opportunities should come his way, but I do still feel he had something to offer City.

"He has already played over 20 games for them this season and whilst he has not been perfect, he has looked like a solid back-up option to have, so I remain to be convinced by this decision."
