Derby County are reportedly considering John Terry as a replacement for Frank Lampard and links to the former Blues' captain has left Rams fans divided.

According to ESPN, Chelsea are ready to make a formal approach for Lampard this week and will offer their former midfielder a three-year deal to succeed Mauricio Sarri, who has left the club to join Juventus.

According to the Mail, Terry is understood to be one of the replacements Derby are considering if the current boss returns to Stamford Bridge, while Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer and QPR assistant manager John Eustace are also rumoured to be in the running.

The 38-year-old is currently on the coaching staff at Aston Villa and helped the Birmingham side achieve promotion to the Premier League last season.

The Derby job would be the ex-England defender's first job in management but given his status in the game, it could mean the club retain both the profile and the links to the Premier League the club has enjoyed with Lampard at the helm.

Terry's name on the list of potential successors to Lampard has received a mixed reaction from Rams fans, with some inviting the arrival of another big name managers and others wanting to steer clear of the former England captain.
