Millwall's promotion challenge took a knock at the weekend, after the Swans lost out to Millwall in a narrow 1-0 defeat at the Liberty Stadium, a result that leaves Steve Cooper's side sixth in the Championship, seven points behind leaders West Brom.

Cooper is looking to add some fire power to his squad in January and has set his sights on a loan move for young Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster, though he will face stiff competition to land the player with Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Leeds United interested, according to a report in The Mirror.

So would Brewster be a good signing for the Swans? Is he needed?

We discuss..........

Josh Cole

“This could turn out to be an incredibly shrewd signing by Swansea if they can convince Liverpool to loan out Brewster in the January transfer window.

“An exciting prospect, the forward initially burst on to the scene two years ago as he helped England win the Under-17 World Cup by firing in eight goals in the tournament.

“Given that Swansea boss Steve Cooper was the man who guided the Three Lions to this particular success, there is no reason why he cannot further Brewster’s development at the Liberty Stadium.

“When you consider that the 19-year-old has only featured on two occasions for Liverpool this season, he may find it beneficial to move to a club who can offer him a better chance of playing regular first-team football.”

Toby Wilding

"I certainly think this has the potential to be a good signing.

"Brewster is unquestionably a hugely exciting prospect, with his attacking prowess suggesting that he has the ability to come up game-changing moments at crucial times for a team like Swansea.

"That being said, the fact that he has very little first-team experience at any level could be a concern, although the fact he previously worked with Swansea boss Steve Cooper to win the Golden Boot as England lifted the Under 17s World Cup a couple of years ago, suggests the Liberty is a destination where Brewster could develop his game well.

"With the other clubs there are apparently interested in signing the teenager, it will be interesting to see if Cooper's past links with Brewster - and indeed Liverpool - will be enough to swing this transfer battle in Swansea's favour."

George Brooks

"This could be a good signing for Swansea. Brewster is an exciting and talented young player - he wouldn't be at a top club like Liverpool unless he had potential to be something special.

"The fact that he's already made a couple of appearances for the first team at Liverpool shows that they really rate him highly for the future and he could really benefit from going out on loan and gaining some experience in the Championship.

"He could be a decent signing for Swansea. He's an exciting young striker and is a player that Steve Cooper will already know from their time together with England Under-17s.

"He's proven that he can get the best out of him in the past and he could be able to do it again, and help the player adapt to the challenges the challenges that come with playing in the Championship."
