One of the biggest matches of the Championship season takes place on Friday night as Sheffield Wednesday travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United in the Steel City Derby.

Both clubs have experienced differing fortunes over the opening 16 matches of the season, with Wednesday fairing slightly worse and sitting in 17th place.

Jos Luhukay's side have lost their last four matches, scoring just two goals in those matches with the pressure now piling on the manager.

The Owls were pushing close to the play-offs a few weeks ago, but the poor run has put them back into a relegation scrap.

One player who could be crucial at the weekend is experienced striker, Steven Fletcher.

The 31-year-old has been quietly impressive for the Owls so far this season

He has only scored three goals in 15 appearances, but he has provided an experienced head from which the likes of Lucas Joao can learn from.

The winner he scored against Aston Villa sparked an impressive run of form, which brought the Owls within touching distance of the top six.

With the likes of Gary Hooper and Sam Winnall remaining sidelined all season, more may have been needed from the Scot to keep that run going, however. Averaging just under two shots per game is just not good enough for a striker, who is often sent out to be the club's main source of goals.

Winning nearly four aerial duels a game does show his worth, though, and shows that it may be worth Wednesday playing more direct.

There is no doubt that Fletcher is, and has been, a useful tool for Luhukay this season and with Friday's Steel City Derby coming at a bad time for the Owls, Fletcher will have to step up.
