Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel will be preparing for life in the Championship next season after securing second spot in a closely fought promotion battle in League One this season.

Stendal is not hanging about with his recruitment with Barnsley one of a number of clubs interested in signing Motherwell midfielder Alejandro Rodriguez Gorrin on a free transfer this summer with the Spaniard looking set to leave Fir Park at the end of the season, according to HITC.

So, would Gorrin be a good signing for Barnsley?

We discuss........

Louie Chandler

"I think so.

"In McGeehan and Mowatt the Tykes already have good midfield options but it would be foolish of Stendel to think he could not strengthen even further.

"There is definitely a gulf in class between the Championship and the SPL however, so it will be interesting to see if he can make the step up."

George Harbey

"I think he’d be an excellent signing for Barnsley.

"The Tykes already have plenty of talented options in the middle of the park, but Rodriguez would definitely add some fresh legs and competition to Stendel’s men.

"He’s very technically-gifted, meaning that he’d fit right into the way that the German likes to play football."

Alfie Burns

"Barnsley are strong in midfield as it is, but this signing would boost their options heading back into the Championship.

"It's really important that the club don't stand still under Stendel, as they seem to have a good chance of building something now.

"Progressive signings like this will help that."
