Sheffield United's fixture list for the 2021/22 campaign has finally been released!

With Slavisa Jokanovic set to take over at Bramall Lane next week, the Blades' players will be arriving for pre-season training imminently with more incomings and outgoings set to come in South Yorkshire over the next few months.

For those who will remain with Sheffield United, they will start the next campaign at home to Birmingham City and will be looking to get three points on the board straight away.

Lee Bowyer's men managed to drag themselves away from the relegation zone last season and will be a tough opposition to come up against - but you have to say the Blades will be the favourites in this one as things stand.

But who could potentially be in the starting 11 to face the Blues at the start of August? We take a look at who's in, who could be out and who may join in the next month or so.

Ramsdale has been linked with a move away from Bramall Lane this summer, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers - but is reportedly committed to the club.

The 23-year-old is currently away at the European Championships with England and will be in high demand this summer - but with Ramsdale only moving back from AFC Bournemouth last summer - he may reject a top-flight move in favour of staying with the Blades.

If that's the case and he can stay injury-free, he will almost certainly start ahead of Wes Foderingham on the opening day as one of Sheffield United's few shining lights in the second half of last season.

Stevens has been regular for the Blades since he arrived from Portsmouth back in 2017, seeing the club win promotion, get in the top half of the Premier League table and then relegated back to the second tier.

His journey at Bramall Lane is likely to continue as he competes with Max Lowe once again - and after starting ahead of the former Derby full-back for much of last season - he will be in the first 11 again unless something drastically changes in pre-season or Jokanovic takes a particular liking to Lowe.

Rhys Norrington-Davies is another option in this position, although he could go back out on loan if both Stevens and Lowe remain at the club.

Those are three great options for the Serbian to have and just the quality and depth he needs for a promotion charge. But Stevens is the clear winner in this one.

The 27-year-old's serious knee injury last term was a major blow to Chris Wilder - and could have been one of the reasons why Sheffield United suffered so badly last season.

In the Blades' successful 2019/20 campaign where they finished eighth, O'Connell made 33 Premier League appearances and could be the key to promotion if they can get him match fit.

Getting him fit is one thing, keeping him in the same state is another and Jokanovic will have other options like Jack Robinson and Chris Basham to utilise if O'Connell can't get over his injury nightmare just yet.

There's also no doubt the club will be easing O'Connell into pre-season training if he's ready to take to the grass, but will he be back and ready to go by August 7th? If he is, he will probably start after such a long time away.

It was a tough choice choosing between John Egan and Chris Basham - but with the latter turning 33 last month - Jokanovic may look to Egan as a more youthful option alongside O'Connor.

The 27-year-old has been ever-present in the South Yorkshire side's starting lineup for the last three seasons throughout the highs and lows since joining from Brentford, and it's hard to see him being dropped next season after playing so much football at Bramall Lane in recent years.

Fans will be hoping Egan will have hugely benefitted from playing two full seasons of Premier League football as he drops down a tier with his teammates.

However, the Irishman may need to adapt to being in a back four after operating in Chris Wilder's three-at-the-back system in the past. But he has the maturity and ability to do that with no problems whatsoever.

Similarly to the left-back position, two strong candidates are competing for the spot on the other side.

Although he operated in a more advanced position last season, Bogle played as a right-back in his Derby County days and could be the natural replacement for George Baldock if he waits patiently.

However, the 20-year-old has been linked with a move to Norwich City and could move on this summer if Max Aarons leaves Carrow Road.

But regardless of whether he stays or leaves, George Baldock has been a consistent starter (like Stevens) over the past few years may be preferred to Bogle as a more experienced man.

Keep an eye out for the 20-year-old though, because he may appear later in the gallery...

Jokanovic will be delighted to link up with Oliver Norwood after the pair spent time with each other at Fulham, after the Serbian signed him on loan for the 2017/18 season.

This period was an enjoyable one for the Cottagers, with them achieving promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.

Norwood was a regular player for the Serbian that season, both as a starter and a substitute and this could continue if Sander Berge stays to compete with the Northern Ireland international and Scotland's John Fleck in the middle of the park.

However, he may start more often than not with Jokanovic already knowing what Norwood is about and what he can offer the team going forward. So expect him to be firmly involved as a key figure on the pitch and behind the scenes throughout the next campaign.

This spot could have easily been taken up by Sander Berge - but with the Norwegian 23-year-old attracting interest from teams around Europe - he is unlikely to stay at the club beyond this window however much of a 'perfect professional' he is.

It's not inevitable that he will go, look at Ismaila Sarr at Watford last season for example. But the Blades may look to cash in this summer to give Slavisa Jokanovic a bigger transfer budget to play with and when you see the likes of John Fleck ready to start in his place, there will be no panic at Bramall Lane if Berge goes.

The Scottish midfielder has been away with his national side for the European Championships - but their exit at the group stage means Jokanovic will see him join training at the earliest possible opportunity - though the 52-year-old may want to give the midfielder a little break due to his involvement in the international tournament.

Expect to see him start against Birmingham though unless Berge remains at Bramall Lane.

The Fulham midfielder may decide his time in West London is up after spending six years at the club, especially with the Cottagers in disarray as manager Scott Parker prepares to depart.

Cairney was also a key player, along with Norwood, when Jokanovic was at Fulham and could be tempted by the chance of reuniting with his old boss.

The 30-year-old has spend time in the north before with Leeds United, Hull City and Blackburn Rovers - and wouldn't be fazed by a move to South Yorkshire, therefore.

According to last month's Football League World exclusive, Cairney is on his former manager's wishlist. However, the club will not force through a move for the Scottish midfielder as per the Sheffield Star.

Fulham's current asking price is £10m - but this deal could become a strong possibility if £35m-rated Sander Berge leaves the club this summer.

The Scottish forward seems to have been converted into a striker at Sheffield United - but could find himself back out on the wing if the new boss opts for a change in formation.

There's no doubting the 24-year-old is a wonderful talent and could be the attacking spark the Blades need to fire themselves back to the Premier League.

However, he does need to improve his goals and assists tally if he wants to remain in the team - but should get a proper chance back in the second tier if he does well in pre-season.

After signing for RB Leipzig in what probably is the highlight of his career, he will want to get back to the top division of English football and unleash the potential that saw him earn that move to Germany in the first place.

The South Yorkshire side haven't really operated with orthodox wingers when playing with a three at the back, perhaps allowing Jayden Bogle to take this right-wing spot going into the next campaign.

Bogle has played in an advanced role like this though for Sheffield United, scoring twice in the Premier League last season.

But it was his assists that he was known for at former club Derby County and if Bogle can deliver the goods for Jokanovic in pre-season in this role, he may take a chance on the 30-year-old who is attracting interest from the top flight.

This is one way of accommodating both Baldock and Bogle in the starting lineup - and it will be fascinating to see what the manager does with the duo.

Hear me out on this one Sheffield United fans.

The forward may not have been in scintillating form last season - but this is a fresh start for McBurnie under a new manager, in a new division and probably in a different system.

The 25-year-old was lethal in the Championship for Swansea City before his move to United and if he can replicate this form, it will go a long way in guiding his side back to the Premier League.

Many fans may already want him out - but Jokanovic will at least have a look at the forward before deciding what to do with him. A good pre-season could set the tone for a much brighter campaign.
