Aston Villa are considering making a move for right-back Saidy Janko who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest.

The former Celtic man is with the Reds until the end of the season but according to Football Insider, Villa are prepared to strike an early deal for the player even if they have to wait to get him.

Janko is currenly owned by Porto but isn't needed by the Portuguese giants, who loaned him out even though he only joined them this summer.

However, it's not a clear pathway for Villa in terms of landing Janko, with the report stating that Premier League pair Fulham and Wolves are also monitoring the 23-year-old who would be available for £2m.

But, would he be a good signing for Villa? Particularly as they are already well-stocked in that area with Alan Hutton, James Bree and Ahmed Elmohamady available to the new boss.

We take a look...

What’s wrong with James Bree?

He’s sat on the fringe at Villa Park and needs a chance to impress.

The full-back positions do need fresh blood, but Janko isn’t the answer for Villa.

Jay Taylor

Aston Villa are in need of defensive reinforcements and Saidy Janko would be a solid addition should Dean Smith pursue a move.

He has been impressive for Nottingham Forest since arriving on loan. I believe he is there for the season so it is certainly a move that could happen come the summer.

I think it would be an astute Smith signing should it happen.

Chris Gallagher

It would make sense.

The full-backs Villa currently have may not be able to play the way that Smith wants, but Janko certainly does.

He is quick, loves to get forward and is good on the ball. He would be a real smart signing.
