Championship side Middlesbrough managed to get their campaign back on track with a convincing 2-0 win over Sheffield United last night, easing pressure off Neil Warnock who's job looked in danger before last night's tie at the Riverside Stadium.

It proved to be a fast start for Boro that secured all three points for the Teesside, scoring twice in the first half through Duncan Watmore and Paddy McNair before defending resolutely to protect their lead.

Although it was their attacking firepower in the first 45 that proved to be the difference on the night, their defence also needed to be on top form to keep out the likes of Billy Sharp, Morgan Gibbs-White and others after seeing the Blades score 14 goals in six competitive games since the international break.

After their resurgence following a slow start to the campaign, Slavisa Jokanovic's men were tipped to beat a Middlesbrough side who won just five points from a possible 21 in their previous seven league games and looked in disarray after a poor performance against Reading at the weekend.

Sol Bamba was one man who was brought in to nullify the South Yorkshire side's opponents last night as Neil Warnock opted to change his approach from Saturday afternoon's match at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
