Aston Villa capped off an excellent win over Nottingham Forest courtesy of Kortney Hause’s goal to wrap the game up.

The Wolves defender, on loan to the Championship club, netted the goal to make their lead unassailable at the City Ground.

His goal typified his robust and impressive display at the heart of the Villa defence.

John McGinn’s brace gave the away side the lead after an early Jack Colback opener for the hosts, but from then on it was domination by Villa.

Between Tyrone Mings and himself, it was a defensive display to be proud of with the pair building up quite the partnership at the back for Villa.

And that rearguard action, in the end, saw Dean Smith’s men move within two points of the play-offs.

Hause’s close-range header from a free-kick sealed the points and a third successive victory to see Villa on the brink of gate-crashing the top-six.
