Tom Pearce is closing in on his move away from Leeds United, with Barnsley agreeing a fee with the Whites for the service of the academy graduate.

Leeds watched Pearce flourish towards the end of the 2017/18 campaign under Paul Heckingbottom, with the left-back making a string of impressive performances and opening his goalscoring account against Barnsley.

However, Marcelo Bielsa has frozen him out, and according to Alan Nixon, Pearce will be Barnsley-bound for a modest fee of just £275k.

The 21-year-old has made only 10 appearances for the first-team at Leeds, as well as nine more outings on loan with Scunthorpe last season.

At both clubs he’s failed to nail down a regular place in the side, and at Leeds, Leif Davis has progressed through as the academy option within Bielsa’s first-team.

Despite all that, plenty of fans aren’t impressed with Leeds letting Pearce go on the cheap with hours of the transfer window remaining…
