It was relief all round at St Andrew's on Saturday afternoon as Birmingham City secured a much-needed home win over Nottingham Forest to send manager Steve Cotterill’s men out of the bottom three.

Sunderland, Bolton and Burton’s failure to pick up maximum points ensured the Blues pulled clear of the bottom three, in what was their first league win in over a month.

Young forward Che Adams proved the difference-maker in the first half, and Cotterill will be delighted to pick up only his second win as Birmingham boss.

Defender Harlee Dean, a summer recruit from Brentford, put in a fantastic defensive display to restrict a dangerous Nottingham Forest attack to drawing a blank, with the 26-year-old fast emerging as one of the most consistent performers in a Blue shirt this season.
