Bristol City have been a breath of fresh air this season and will be looking to keep that up for the rest of the campaign.

Players like Famara Diedhiou have done a top job since coming into the club and it's testament to the continuing work that the they are doing in the transfer window.

It's not always worked, though, and with that in mind we've taken a look at some of the bigger mistakes the club has made in signing players over the last five years...

Alfie Burns

Jody Morris may not be the worst player Bristol City have signed in the last five years, but he is amongst the most pointless signings.

The midfielder was an excellent player during his days with Chelsea in the Premier League, but his career slowly wound down and his short spell at Bristol City doesn’t live long in the memory.

Just the five appearances for the Robins.

I'd probably go for Nicky Shorey.

Fortunately, the Robins have been pretty good in the transfer market over recent years so there were no real standout candidates.

However, Shorey joined when he was clearly way past his best. He was slow and nowhere near the player that played for England and presumably picking up a decent wage.

He was released after his short-term contract expired and was playing in India eight months later.

It has to be Ryan Fredericks.

The right-back is a quality player, but it's what happened after he signed for City.

Fredericks lasted just 26 days at the club and was subsequently shipped off to Fulham, where he has gone on to flourish.

A waste of time for Bristol City!
