Jordan Hugill’s potential move to Middlesbrough this summer has had fresh doubt cast over it.

That is down the lofty price-tag that his parent club West Ham have slapped on the on-loan Riverside striker.

The Northern Echo is reporting that the London outfit want £10million for the 26-year-old, which could prove a stumbling block for Tony Pulis and the hierarchy at the club.

The Middlesbrough-born striker has managed six goals in 19 starts for his hometown club, registering two assists in the process.

With reports linking Bristol City with current permanent Boro striker, Britt Assombalonga, Hugill will be desperate to get a move over the line in the summer.

He knows it could be at risk due to the hefty fee the Hammers want in return for his services, but the striker will be wishing the club will do all they can to secure his future at his home town club.

Despite failing to set the world alight, Hugill has bedded in well at the Riverside after his failed move to the Premier League.

He has a point to prove and with Assombalonga’s future had doubt cast over it, he will be pleading with Pulis to get a deal done so he can prove himself over a full season, as a first-choice frontman.

It is a matter of importance for the striker; it could even be considered more than that as he looks to end his Hammers hell and kick on at a new club.

And there is no better place than that at the Riverside for him to resurrect his career having been sensational for Preston before the West Ham move.

This summer could well be one of the most important in Hugill’s career, and he will be hoping the club can do all they can sign him up and allow him to flourish once again as a regular part of a Championship team.
