Bristol City are reportedly interested in Rotherham United striker Michael Smith as they look to replace Famara Diedhiou, which has drawn an interesting reaction from fans of the club.

Diedhiou scored 51 times in 169 appearances across four seasons with the Robins but was one of 11 senior players released earlier this summer.

City have been linked with a number of potential replacements and it seems Smith is the latest striker that they're eyeing up.

According to Gregor MacGregor from the Bristol Post, the South West club are interested in signing Smith this summer.

The 29-year-old only has a year left on his contract, which could leave Rotherham open to cashing in on him after their relegation to League One.

However, City do face competition from Middlesbrough with Neil Warnock understood to be keen to sign three new strikers before next season.

The physical forward has scored 18 goals and added seven assists across his two Championships seasons with the Millers, while only Cardiff City's Kieffer Moore won more aerial duels than his 308 last season (Whoscored) – indicating what he would bring to Nigel Pearson's squad.

The links to Smith have drawn a mixed reaction from the Ashton Gate faithful, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts...
