Wigan Athletic have announced the signing of Blackburn Rovers captain Charlie Mulgrew on a season-long loan deal.

Mulgrew, who joined Rovers in the summer of 2016, has made a total 108 appearances and scored 27 goals in all competitions for the Ewood Park club, helping the Lancashire side to promotion from League One in the 2017/18 campaign, the same season Wigan themselves lifted the third-tier title.

The 33-year-old has now made the short move across the north-west of England to the DW Stadium, where he is set to rival the likes of Chey Dunkley, Cedric Kipre and Danny Fox for a place in the centre of the Latics' defence this season.

Following confirmation of Mulgrew's arrival, Wigan have ended the summer transfer window with no fewer than 11 new additions to their squad for the coming campaign.

Taking to Twitter to react to news of Mulgrew's arrival, a number of Wigan fans seemed satisfied with their final signing of the window.

Here, we take a look at what some of them had to say.
