Nottingham Forest striker Jason Cummings looks set to depart the City Ground this summer after being told by manager Sabri Lamouchi to find a new club, according to The Scottish Sun.

The 23-year-old is said to be one of six senior players who have been training with the under-23 side since Lamouchi's arrival at the club, and FLW has reported that the Scottish Premiership is a likely destination for him.

Cummings joined Forest from Hibernian in 2017, but he has only made ten starts for the Reds and has been sent out on loan spells to the likes of Rangers, Peterborough and Luton Town.

He featured for Forest's development side in a friendly against Cambridge United on Friday while the rest of the squad were out in Greece, signalling that his time at the club could be reaching a conclusion.

So is this the right move from Forest?

We discuss...

Kealan Hughes

"It is not much of a surprise and there are several reasons why.

"Forest are an ambitious club and after getting close to the play-offs last season they will want to improve on that, and Cummings is not a player who will help them realise that ambition.

"He has some improvement to do if he is to challenge Lewis Grabban for a first-team place and he hasn't shown that he is capable of doing that any time soon. In his recent loan spells he has failed to make a significant impression, and considering some of those came in League One last season it doesn't reflect well on him.

"In addition, Lamouchi is making a lot of changes to the squad in attempt to put his own mark on it and as a result he is trying to offload many fringe players, and Cummings appears to be the latest player transfer listed."

Louie Chandler

"It is the right move for the both the player and the club.

"When you look at how many players Forest had at the City Ground and out on loan, it is easy to see that it is a pretty unmanageable situation.

"So I think it is a serious positive to see Lamouchi looking to trim down the excess fat and build a squad that he will be able to manage with far greater ease.

"Cummings clearly has ability, as shown in the early days of his spell with Peterborough, but he has never appeared to settle south of the border and a move back to the SPL could well be the best thing for him."

Alfie Burns

“This was always on the cards if we are honest, Cummings was never going to be given another lifeline at the City Ground.

“It’s a real waste of what could be a good player for Forest, but in the two years he’s been on the books – or out on loan – Cummings just hasn’t been doing enough.

“A change is needed for all parties and I’m sure that Forest and Cummings will be confident of cutting ties at some point in the coming weeks.

“You can’t fault Lamouchi for cutting ties either, he’s no fool and will have been aware of what has gone before.”
