Sheffield Wednesday could be ready to offload Cameron Dawson and Joe Wildsmith, with podcaster Paddy Jones claiming they're 'already out the door'.

The Owls are going through a period of change after sacking Garry Monk as manager and replacing him with Tony Pulis.

As a result the Welshman will be undertaking a full evaluation of each area of the first team squad before deciding who the players are who will help him to pick up the results needed to move them up the table.

One player who could be included in those plans is Keiren Westwood.

The experienced stopper hasn't featured for the club in around a year but has since been registered in the club's 25-man squad ahead of Saturday's match.

As a result, Dawson and Wildsmith could face an uncertain future with Owls' podcaster Paddy Jones claiming that Westwood will be first choice.

Speaking on the Owls Americast Podcast, Jones said: "I think there’s going to be a couple of obvious winners and losers out of the old Pulis system.

"Firstly, it sounds like Westwood’s his first-choice goalkeeper – apparently, Dawson and Wildsmith are already out the door.

"That, I thought, was an unbelievable take as soon as he walks through the door.

“I don’t think this was a kind of paying lip service to bring his confidence up – he’s putting a stake in the ground, saying, ‘Westwood’s my first-choice goalkeeper.’ That’s how much he rates Dawson and Wildsmith.”

The Verdict

What an opportunity for Keiren Westwood.

The stopper must have thought that his Sheffield Wednesday career was over but it seems like he's set for a fresh opportunity under Tony Pulis.

Whether Dawson and Wildsmith will be moved on remains to be seen, but if they've fallen down the pecking order then they may well look to find first team football elsewhere.
