Darren Moore's West Brom kept themselves in touch with the promotion race in the Championship, registering a fine 1-0 win against Stoke City at the bet365 stadium.

Dwight Gayle's first half strike was enough to see off the home side, but the Baggies controlled play for large parts and managed to keep a clean sheet, something of a bonus in their high-scoring season. They're the leading scorers in the top five, but have also conceded the second most amount of goals.

To see them win by a solitary strike will have demonstrated another side of their character to fans, a battling and resilient side that made a single goal count. It's a positive sign for the weeks ahead as they look to push for a top two finish and an immediate return to the top flight.

One player who suitably impressed on his debut was Fulham's Stefan Johansen. He joined on loan in the January transfer window and was making his first appearances for Moore's side.

He turned in a composed and competent display, looking leggy towards the end of his time on the field but certainly giving fans food for thought. He was the subject of significant praise on social media, including already being labelled a 'legend'

That might be a bit premature, but if he is the catalyst that launches an automatic promotion bid, it might be more fitting.
