Derby County risk falling off the play-off pace at a crucial time, after two draws, two defeats and a single win in their last five outings have left Frank Lampard's side in eighth place, a point off a resurgent Aston Villa who currently hold the final play-off spot.

With nine matches remaining Lampard still has the chance to turn things around, but with a host of sides in the mix all the way down to 11th place, it promises to be a race that will go right down to the wire.

So can Lampard still deliver a play-off spot for Derby?

We discuss.......

Gary Hutchinson

“Nope.

“He’s shown naivety as a manager.

“He’s relied on loan players, but the nucleus of a side isn’t there.

“They’ve got problems in the summer.

“All their top players are borrowed.”

Jacob Potter

"I think they’ve blown their chance.

"Derby were well clear of their play-off chasing rivals and they’ve blown their chance at finishing in the top six after a run of poor results.

"Lampard could be fearing for his future at the club if they don’t achieve that."

Jay Taylor

“I think they will miss out.

“Player form and recent results have been poor recently, and that will end their hopes of a play-off place.

“There are other teams in form and who have better run-ins – so I think Lampard’s first season could well end in disappointment.”
