There are several clubs linked with Juventus' Stephy Mavididi this summer and Derby are one of those interested according to TEAMtalk.

Born in Derby, a loan spell at The Rams would suit him perfectly.

Not only would it allow him to live close to family and friends, but it would provide him with the opportunity to play regularly at Championship level under a manager who allows young players to prosper.

The likes of Mason Mount, Harry Wilson and Fikayo Tomori are evidence of that. They all arrived on loan at Pride Park and enjoyed excellent seasons, and Mavididi could follow in their footsteps.

The 21-year-old has spent time out on loan at Preston and Charlton previously, with varying success. But now he has a year's experience in Italy surrounded by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini he could return to England a completely different player.

It is an interesting move from Derby, but is it one that will work out? Here are the thoughts of our writers:

Toby Wilding

"I think this is a smart move from Derby.

"They seemed to be short on attacking options on times last season, and you could argue that that ultimately cost them.

"A young striker such as Mavididi could also offer them the chance to play a different style of football on the pitch to the one they might employ with a more experienced attacker such as Martyn Waghorn or David Nugent."

Jacob Potter

"It'd be a really good signing.

"Mavididi has all the right attributes to be a success in the Championship, and I'd fancy Derby to win promotion to the Premier League if they had him leading the line.

"They won't be favourites for his signature though if Leeds are interested, and they'll have to do everything they can to sign him."

George Harbey

"I think that this would be an ideal move for him.

"He was born in Derby and was East Midlands-based before he moved to Arsenal, so a move back home could be appealing for him.

"The Rams are in need of another striker having let go of David Nugent, and he would offer something different up top as he’s a real handful.

"Lampard can get the best out of him for sure."

Louie Chandler

"What would be the point?

"In Jack Marriott and Martyn Waghorn, Frank Lampard already has two top Championship strikers so it seems rather pointless going for Mavididi.

"Unless he is planning on getting rid of one of the others it seems like he may have his priorities skewed."
