Bristol City will be looking to kickstart their Championship campaign with a victory over Blackpool this weekend.

It has been a fairly quiet summer at the helm for Nigel Pearson, with a number of players leaving at the end of last season but only three new signings arriving at Ashton Gate thus far this window.

Andy King, Matty James and Rob Atkinson have all arrived to strengthen the City squad, as they prepare to embark on another season in the Championship.

Having finished poorly with zero wins and seven wins from 10 games, Pearson will be looking to guide his side higher up the table having finished 19th last season.

The new campaign begins with a home clash against Blackpool this weekend, with the newly-promoted Tangerines looking to mark their return from League One with an opening day win.

The latest team news has emerged from Pearson's pre-match press conference, ahead of the much-anticipated opening day clash.

Pearson, via Gregor MacGregor of Bristol Live, has confirmed that the only two players unavailable for selection will be Antoine Semenyo and Robbie Cundy.

Semenyo, who made 50 appearances in all competitions last season, is still recovering from a knee injury having had surgery.

That is also the same case for Cundy, who spent the last couple of months of his loan spell at Gillingham out injured last season.

Apart from those two players, every other player is available for selection as City look to pick up all three points at the weekend.

Tomas Kalas is likely to start on the bench, however, amid Pearson's recent comments praising the growing partnership of Nathan Baker and Rob Atkinson.
