New signing Leif Davis is a doubt for the weekend after missing last weekend's Carabao Cup match against MK Dons - and could be one of several Bournemouth absentees for Friday evening.

The 21-year-old arrived at the Vitality Stadium from Leeds United last week but is carrying a knock, although manager Scott Parker is optimistic about a quick return. He is not expected to be a long-term absentee.

Someone who will be out for longer is Jefferson Lerma who was given a six-game ban by the FA for biting Sheffield Wednesday's Josh Windass in June and served his first last weekend against the Buckinghamshire side.

Fellow central midfielder Lewis Cook will also join him on the sidelines with Parker calling him a 'longer term' absentee, along with his namesake Steve Cook who didn't travel to Marbella with the first-team squad for their training camp after suffering several setbacks with a persistent knee injury - and Sam Surridge won't be available after finalising his move to Stoke City yesterday.

There is some good news for the south-coast side, however.

Chris Mepham is due to return after serving a one-match suspension against MK Dons, with the Welsh international being sent off in the play-off semi-final second leg against Brentford, something which proved to be costly as the Bees went on to win the tie.

Jaidon Anthony and Junior Stanislas are also likely to be in contention, with the former soldiering on with a broken wrist and the latter finally getting back up to match fitness after coming on for Emiliano Marcondes in the 66th minute in last weekend's Carabao Cup fixture.

Another player who is likely to be joining the likes of Anthony and Stanislas in the matchday squad on Friday is Philip Billing, who remains with the Cherries despite Norwich City reportedly opening talks to sign the Danish midfielder.

The 26-year-old scored the fourth goal in Bournemouth's 5-0 Carabao Cup win and will be fully focused on the Cherries' campaign in the Championship until a fee is agreed between his current side and the Canaries, although it's currently unclear whether Daniel Farke's side will even be able to make an offer that satisfies the Championship outfit.

One more Bournemouth man who is generating a considerable amount of interest this summer is Arnaut Danjuma, who along with new signing Davis, will be a doubt for Bournemouth after missing their first competitive game.

However, this is due to an injury and not the intense interest surrounding him, with Villarreal having a £13m bid for the Dutch winger rejected last month. He is also being monitored by Liverpool, West Ham United and Everton and Wolves according to reports.

Ben Pearson may also be set to miss Friday evening's tie after sustaining an ankle problem in the summer and not appearing in the matchday squad against MK Dons.

But in better news, new signing Emiliano Marcondes is in line to make his debut after appearing regularly for the Cherries in pre-season.
