‘All Leeds ain’t he?’ – Reading fans mock Leeds United following shock news

Leeds United yesterday confirmed that manager Garry Monk had resigned from his post after failing to agree a new deal at Elland Road.
The former Swansea boss replaced Steve Evans last summer and led the Yorkshire outfit to their best Championship finish since 2011, with his side concluding the campaign in seventh, just five points adrift of the play-offs.
Although there was disappointment that they missed out on the top six, given they were well-lodged inside the play-off places for much of 2017, the 38-year-old was widely seen to have done an excellent job at Elland Road, given the instability and uncertainty surrounding the club in recent years.
However, his tenure came to an end on Thursday after he failed to agree a contract extension with new owner Andrea Radrizzani, and the Leeds owner will now turn his attentions to appointing Monk’s successor over the coming weeks.
Nonetheless, Monk’s resignation stimulated quite the response on Twitter, notably from Reading fans, who of course will see their side in action in the Championship play-off final on Monday when they face Huddersfield at Wembley.
There seems to have been a developing rivalry of sorts on social media over the course of the season, and it’s fair to say that Reading supporters weren’t overly sympathetic to Leeds fans following Monk’s resignation…
