Lucas Joao scored a late equaliser for Blackburn Rovers in last night’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Fulham, a result which denied the Cottagers moving into the Sky Bet Championship top-six.

Sone Aluko’s first-half goal gave Fulham the lead, before a Craig Conway penalty levelled the contest midway through the second-half.

Gohi Cyriac looked to have won the game for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side in the 86th minute, but deep into injury-time, at the end of the second-half, Joao stepped up to deny Fulham a vital three-points.

Fulham remain seventh in the Championship table and are now just one-point behind Sheffield Wednesday, with nine fixtures of the season remaining.

The result was also significant for Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn, who moved out of the relegation zone thanks to Joao’s late equaliser, and extended their unbeaten run to six games.

While last night’s result was heartbreaking for Fulham, it gave the sides currently in the Play-Offs some much needed breathing space.

One of those sides is Leeds United, who despite a rough patch, remain fourth in the Championship table, with a five-point cushion over Fulham.
