Charlton Athletic have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 since Johnnie Jackson took temporary charge at The Valley.

The former Charlton midfielder succeeded Nigel Adkins when he departed late last month, following the club’s slump into the relegation places.

The Addicks now look revitalised under Jackson, with their latest victory over the League One leaders sending out a statement.

Quiz: Have Charlton Athletic ever won an away game at each of these 20 stadiums?

Left-back Ben Purrington continued his excellent goalscoring form to give the hosts the lead against The Pilgrims before Conor Washington confirmed the three points in the 84th minute.

Despite it being a performance where the whole team performed at a very good level, Alex Gilbey particularly shone for The Addicks.

The midfielder attacked with real intent, with his direct running causing all sorts of mayhem for the Plymouth backline.

As well as displaying his excellence when in possession, he also put in a shift out of possession, pressing and winning the ball back for his side.

The Addicks remain nine points from the play-off positions, but given their form, and their upcoming fixture list, they will be hopeful of continuing on this upward trajectory.

Here, we take a look at how Charlton fans on Twitter have reacted to Alex Gilbey’s performance yesterday afternoon…
