Leeds United look very well set to be playing Premier League football for the first time since 2004, topping the Championship table after 28 games.

But the Elland Road faithful have been burnt too many times before with promotion bids that look so certain only to crumble away, leaving plenty of hearts broken.

A 2-1 loss to Stoke City last time out will have done little to lower the heart-rates of the Yorkshire city either, with second-placed Norwich City now just a point behind them.

There have been plenty of calls for Marcelo Bielsa to strengthen his side this month with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla still the only new first-team signing.

But they were linked with an exciting swoop for Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro on Friday, a signing that would surely cheer up the fans.

The Portuguese racked up nine goals and 12 assists in the second-tier last season so it is no surprise to see him linked with the Whites.

However, if he were to join, how would their attack line up?

Right-wing: Jack Clarke

There is no way that Marcelo Bielsa would bring someone in if it were going to disrupt Clarke's progression with the club.

The youth graduate has been on tremendous form over the last couple of months, attracting interest from the Premier League but the club are adamant that he will be staying.

Attacking-midfield: Pablo Hernandez

Of course. The Spaniard has probably been the Whites most important player this season with his experience and staggering technique proving too much for Championship defenders.

They look significantly weakened without him in the side so it is a no brainer to keep him in.

Left-wing: Ivan Cavaleiro

It is not his favoured position, but there is no doubt he can still be a lethal Championship threat from the left.

Patience has been running thin with Ezgjan Allioski in an attacking sense, with the general consensus that he is more effective at left-back.

Cavaleiro would add that dynamism and consistent end product that the Macedonian has perhaps been lacking.

Striker: Kemar Roofe

What a season it has been for Roofe.

14 goals in 22 appearances for the 26-year-old has made him one of the standout strikers in the Championship and his improvement under Bielsa has been staggering.

The question now seems to be whether or not he can make the step up to the Premier League.
