Bolton Wanderers have been boosted by the news that Ali Crawford has signed a new deal at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Crawford has been with Bolton since the summer of 2019, but, as we know, it has been a year to forget for the Trotters, who have suffered relegation into the fourth-tier of the Football League.

Yet, on the back of a week where Ian Evatt has been appointed as the club’s new boss, they’ve also tied Crawford down to a new contract.

QUIZ: Can you name these 12 Bolton Wanderers players just by looking at their Wikipedia bios?

The 28-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with Bolton, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2022 and offering them a major boost ahead of a season in League Two in 2020/21.

On the back of that deal, Crawford has taken to Twitter to issue a simple, yet effective message:

The 2019/20 season saw Crawford frustrated by injuries, limiting him to under 20 appearances for Bolton, who were rock bottom of League One by the time the season curtailed.

Earlier in his career, the midfielder had spells with Hamilton and Doncaster Rovers, before making the initial move to Bolton in the summer of 2019.

The Verdict

Crawford’s new deal at Bolton is a real boost for them heading into the 2020/21 campaign.

League Two is going to be a challenge for Bolton and Evatt has his work cut out on his arrival in Lancashire.

However, there’s good news given Crawford’s contract and more will follow, you’ve got to be sure.

For Crawford, he needs to be at his best and fully fit, which he sounds fully motivated for.
