Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander has stated that he is looking to strengthen his squad, in an interview with The Blackpool Gazette.

Alexander has already signed three new players recently, with Macclesfield Town defender Danny Andrews, and experienced midfielder Keith Southern joining the Cod Army ranks.

Striker Jamie Proctor also signed from Crawley Town on a free, as Fleetwood prepare for their first season in League One, following the League Two play-off final 1-0  win over Burton Albion in May.

Fleetwood had previously been linked with Iain Hume, something which was swiftly denied by Alexander, but the former Preston North End and Burnley man did admit that he is still looking to bolster his squad.

He said in his interview with the Gazette: “There’s nothing coming up right now, nothing happening at the moment.

“But we still think we need one or two. Maybe not even two, just the one.

“We need to just bolster the squad because it will be a long season and a tough one.

“But I always want to protect the quality and the numbers in the squad. We won’t keep players just for the sake of it. We want competition.

“At this stage, like every other club we’re looking to see if we can improve.

“But we’ve got full confidence in the squad we have at the moment.

“If somebody comes along who might give us that extra five or 10 per cent we’ll do everything to make that happen.”

Preston born Proctor enjoyed a successful personal season at Crawley, scoring 15 League goals for the Sussex club, with Proctor set to lead the line following the recent departure of Jon Parkin, who left on a free transfer.

Fleetwood's first League game comes against Crewe Alexandra on 9th August at Highbury.
