Sunderland have completed the signing of Alex Pritchard, the club have confirmed.
The midfielder moves to the Stadium Of Light on a free transfer after penning a two-year contract with the Wearsiders.
The 28-year-old had spent the last three years with Huddersfield Town but endured a frustrating time with injuries stopping him from making the sort of impact that he would have liked at the John Smith Stadium.
With a move away confirmed Football League World exclusively revealed that the Wearsiders had joined the hunt for his signature alongside Birmingham City, with Lee Johnson’s side winning the race to get the deal done.
Upon agreeing the deal Pritchard discussed his delight at securing the move with the official Sunderland website, saying: “It’s great to be here and it’s another good opportunity for me on the football road, so I’m ready to get going.
“There were other offers out there, but it’s crucial for me to be with a Head Coach that knows me as a player, and as a person, and has a playing style that suits me.
“The club speaks for itself – you see the stadium, the training ground, the fans – and I just think this could be a great fit.”

This looks like a really good addition for Sunderland.
The Black Cats were desperately missing a creative central midfielder last season and it’s clear that this was a deal that was near the top of Lee Johnson’s list of targets.
Pritchard would admit that the last few years haven’t exactly gone to plan but a move to Wearside could be the ideal platform to get his career going again.
He has the ability to take League One by storm and if he can stay fit then I expect him to have a great season.
