Preston North End manager Alex Neil has given an update on his squad's fitness ahead of this weekend's trip to West Bromwich Albion.

Reported on the club's official Twitter account, Neil revealed that Brad Potts is likely to miss the trip but is more hopeful that Paul Gallagher will be fit to travel.

“I’m not convinced Brad Potts will make it this weekend but I am very hopeful that Gally will,” he told his pre-match press conference.

After losing their last two matches to Leeds United and Sheffield United, Preston will be keen to bounce back to winning ways against the out of sorts Baggies to reignite their play-off bid.

They currently sit in 12th place and eight points behind sixth-placed Bristol City with just five matches left to play.

Jimmy Shan's West Brom side will also be keen to pick up all three points having fallen nine points behind in the race for automatic promotion.

The verdict

It is hard to read into this update too much as a West Brom fan.

Whilst Potts' absence may come as a boost, given his attacking talents and ability to find the net, the return of such a key figure like Gallagher will not help their cause.

But the Baggies need to focus on themselves in what is an important game for both sides.
