Alex Neil has expressed his Norwich City side do not fear Newcastle United, who visit Carrow Road this Tuesday evening, reports the Eastern Daily Press.

The Canaries’ chief wants his side to continue their good form, following their 5-1 demolition of the in-form Nottingham Forest on Saturday as they look to get their campaign back on track.

Norwich are currently seventh in the Sky Bet Championship and are looking to force their way back into the Play-Off places tomorrow night.

Newcastle are in fine form themselves and are sitting at the top of the Championship table, after their 1-0 victory over Wolves at the weekend, largely enjoying their time on the road this term.

Rafa Benitez’s side have won their last two fixtures and haven’t lost a league fixture since the start of January, despite a relatively slow time of things in the transfer market.

With Neil claiming his Norwich side aren’t afraid of facing the league leaders, here are TWO reasons why they should be:

Newcastle’s players have a point to prove

It was well documented after the January transfer window that Benitez was unhappy at the lack of comings and goings at St James’ Park.

Benitez was left frustrated as the Magpies failed to land any of their main targets, including former winger Andros Townsend.

Teams across the Championship, including Norwich, must now be wary of the backlash from Benitez’s current squad.

Newcastle already host a number of talented players, who will have been left hurt by Benitez’s insistence that his squad needed strengthening last month.

The current crop of players at Newcastle will want to prove to their manager they are more than capable of returning the club to the Premier League.

The return of Dwight Gayle

Newcastle’s top scorer is back in full training, following a hamstring injury he picked up in last month’s victory over Brentford.

Gayle is not a certainty to play tomorrow night, but Norwich must be wary of the 20-goal striker’s pending return.

Benitez has used both Aleksander Mitrovic and Daryl Murphy in Gayle’s absence, but the return of the former Crystal Palace striker is a boost to everyone around Newcastle.

Should Gayle return, his pace and goal scoring instincts could soon bring a stop to Norwich’s recent good run of form.
