Preston boss Alex Neil refused to dismiss the speculation that suggests he will become the next West Brom manager and admitted something could happen in the coming days.

The Scotsman took his North End side to The Hawthorns today but they were comprehensively outplayed and ended up losing 4-1.

Despite that, all the talk after the clash was about if Neil would be in charge of the Baggies for their game on Friday.

And, going by Neil's comments to the Express & Star, we could expect developments early next week.

"I'd imagine something would take place over the next couple of days and then whatever will happen will happen from that point.

"I wouldn't imagine it's going to run until (the next game on Friday). This type of thing needs to get brought to a conclusion. The frustrating thing for me is I've not spoken to anyone, there's been no approach to Preston."

The victory for the Baggies today means they are nailed on for a top six finish, with caretaker James Shan picking up 12 points since he took over following Darren Moore's dismissal.

The Verdict

Even though Neil claims there has been no approach his comments suggest he is expecting one in the coming days.

Most people who have read his quotes will think that a move to Albion seems highly likely and it would be a good move for the ex-Norwich boss.

As he says though, all parties need something sorted as soon as possible as they don't want this dragging on.
