Barnsley will be looking to climb into the top-half of the Championship table when they return to action against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Following the arrival of Valérien Ismaël, the Tykes have enjoyed an upturn in results - with the Frenchman picking up three victories in his four games as Barnsley manager.

Much of the Tykes' recent revival has been down to the form of their captain Alex Mowatt, whose been right amongst the goals in recent weeks.

Mowatt followed up his screamer in last month's draw at Millwall with another spectacular strike past former England goalkeeper Ben Foster, which earned three crucial points against Watford.

And this time of the year appears a omen period for Barnsley in previous years, with the Yorkshire outfit recording three consecutive wins in November 2018 - one of which came on this day exactly two years ago at Accrington Stanley.

Despite playing the final 26 minutes with 10-men, the Tykes still managed to leave the Crown Ground with maximum points after goals from Cauley Woodrow and Kieffer Moore.

The Verdict

Since becoming a regular at Oakwell at the beginning of the 2018-19 campaign, Mowatt has been a excellent servant to the club and has really stepped up when Barnsley have needed him this term.

And if the Tykes are to extend their stay in the Championship, then plenty depends on the performances of Mowatt.
