Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah has suggested that the forthcoming fixtures over the festive period could help to determine whether the Reds secure promotion come the end of the campaign.

The Reds travel to fellow promotion rivals Bristol City on Saturday looking to secure a third successive Championship win, which would take them three points clear of the Robins and represent a promising start to a run of ten potentially defining matches over the next five weeks.

Adomah, who spent a largely successful three-year spell with Bristol City between 2010 and 2013, has been in and out of the Nottingham Forest side so far this season, but he still made valuable contributions mostly from the bench, with Sabri Lamouchi currently preferring Joe Lolley and Sammy Ameobi in the wide positions.

Speaking to Nottingham Forest's official website ahead of the Reds' trip to Bristol City on Saturday, Adomah suggested that the festive period could well be a defining one for their hopes of achieving promotion this season, saying: "As players, you know November and December is when there are lots of games. I think there is 10 games in less than five weeks and you look forward to the challenge as you want to play lots of games.

"This is when you can make a big difference; if you get more points in these months then you will be up there. For us, we are in the top five now so we just want to maintain that and get as many points as we can.

"We are in a good position at the moment but we are not taking anything for granted. We will take each game as it comes and the more points that we can get, the better and hopefully we can stay up there too."

The Verdict

Adomah is a very experienced player in the Championship, having secured promotion to the Premier League last season whilst at Aston Villa and also in the 2015/16 campaign with Middlesbrough, and his knowledge of how to manage the festive period could prove vital for Lamouchi's side over the next few weeks.

The winger has shown his professionalism so far this season, with Adomah always looking to make an impact when he brought off the bench by Lamouchi - and with ten games in the next five weeks he will offer the Frenchman a real option from the start if he wants to freshen up the team during the period.

As Adomah says, the next few games will be crucial to the Reds' promotion hopes, and if they come out of the period still in and around the top six places, then there is a real chance that Lamouchi could guide Forest to the Premier League in his first season in charge.
