Aston Villa right-back Alan Hutton has shared an hilarious photograph of former Villa team-mate Gabriel Agbonlahor.

The post came after the striker had announced his retirement from football and seems to show him in fancy dress as a boxer pulling a rather serious face.

Sharing the photo on his Instagram story, on what is probably one of the club’s Christmas parties, Hutton simply added a laughing emoji:

Apart from two loan spells away with Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, Agbonlahor spent his entire career at Villa Park, racking up nearly 400 appearances in that time.

He bagged 86 goals along the way, including 73 in the Premier League, becoming the club’s all-time top-scorer in the competition in the process.

Villa will have reignited hopes of making a return to that level this season after winning four matches in a row to push them back into the Championship’s top-six.

The verdict

It is always good to see the more human side of footballers such as this.

Far too often fans fall foul of thinking they are so much different to regular people and subsequently say things they probably should not.

But photos like this show that they are more often than not just like any other person.
