Alan Browne says that it's nice for Preston North End to be receiving the plaudits that they deserve.

The Lillywhites have made an excellent start to the Championship season after 31 points in 16 games propelled the team up to 2nd in the table.

The latest in a long line of good results was the 3-1 victory over Huddersfield Town on Saturday where the Irish midfielder got himself off the mark for the season with a goal.

However Browne has certainly been no passenger for Alex Neil's side after playing a key role in every league game so far this term.

Preston aren't usually a side who attract widespread praise, but things seem to be different this time around.

Neil's side are the top scorers in the Championship, and speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, the 24-year-old said that it's nice to finally be receiving the praise that they deserve.

Browne said: “When we were challenging for the top six we were never spoken about.

“It is the so-called big-name teams who get spoken about, that is who all the hype is around.

“Just at the moment we are getting our fair share of credit and people are starting to take a look at us as we challenge for the top two or whatever it might be.

“Even teams below us in the table last season seemed to be getting more mentions than we were. It was as if some people were oblivious to what we were doing.“It is a bit different for us but not something we can’t deal with.

“We have competed really well this season and plaudits have been coming our way.

“It’s not something which we worry too much about, we don’t hold grudges but it is nice to get some credit.” The verdict It's been a wonderful start to the season for Preston North End. The fact that they've been so dominant in the Championship this term is testament to the work that's been done by Alex Neil over a number of years at Deepdale. Neil's team deserve every plaudit that they've received so far this term, but the real challenge will be whether they can last the pace as the season moves into the festive period.
