Nottingham Forest are still hopeful of appointing Nigel Clough as the club’s manager next season, despite recently announcing that Gary Brazil will remain in charge of the first-team, reports The Sun.

Brazil will continue to coach the first-team for the remainder of the season, after impressing owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi during a spell as caretaker manager.

The former academy boss has guided Forest to three wins from his four games in the hot seat and has eased relegation fears at the City Ground, with his side now sat 15th in the Sky Bet Championship, as well as receiving a boost during a relatively busy January transfer market.

Despite this, Al-Hasawi reportedly remains interested in bringing Clough, the son of legendary Forest manager Brian, to the club in the summer.

Clough rejected an approach from Forest last month, stating he wanted to remain at Burton Albion, in a bid to help them to survival in the Championship. His side currently sit 21st in the table, just three points clear of the relegation zone and face a battle to retain their status in the second tier.

Forest face play-off chasing Norwich City on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road, where Brazil’s side will be looking for their third consecutive victory.
