Nottingham Forest's routine 2-0 win against Ipswich was overshadowed by an injury to key defender Michael Dawson.

Forest moved to within four points of the automatic promotion spots with the win against the beleaguered Tractor Boys, but the manager admitted he was worried about the injury status of the veteran defender.

He was withdrawn with a hamstring problem and post match, Karanka wasn't positive about the situation at all.

“I do not know how serious it is. It might be a hamstring problem, but we do not know how bad it is,” he told the Nottingham Post. “If it is serious; if he is out for more than a week or two, it will be a problem. But today Jack Robinson moved into the centre and we have other players to play.”

When quizzed as to whether he could recall Joe Worrall from his loan spell with Scottish side Rangers, the former Middlesbrough manager admitted he wasn't sure of the terms of the arrangement.

“I do not know if we can recall him. I need to check what the terms of the contract are,”

Forest are now fifth in the table and have lost the fewest amount of games of any side in the Championship. They face Preston next weekend, before the huge East Midlands derby on Monday 17th December.

The Verdict

It's concerning that a manager doesn't know the terms of a deal for his own player. Surely, he should know whether he can recall Joe Worrall or not?

Forest have enough players in the squad to cover this injury and if they're wholly reliant on a 35-year old then it is worrying. Perhaps their expansive recruitment policy wasn't as successful after all.
