The agent of QPR defender Toni Leistner has claimed that the player has had offers to leave the club this summer, and that he could be tempted to move on should the right opportunity come along.

Leistner only joined QPR from Union Berlin in his native Germany last summer, and enjoyed an impressive debut season with Rangers, making 46 appearances and being handed the captain's armband at Loftus Road.

Despite that, it was reported earlier in the summer transfer window that QPR were ready to sell the defender, and it appears as though that has attracted the attention of several sides, with Leistner's agent claiming he has received some as yet unsuccessful offers for the player.

Speaking to German TV channel Sport 1, the agent was quoted as saying: “Yes, there were requests for Toni, but the conditions did not fit at that time."

Asked whether Leistner was open to a move away from QPR, the defender's agent went onto suggest that it was a possibility, as he added: “The situation at QPR is not ideal at the moment, Toni does not want to flee, but if he is presented with an interesting challenge, he will probably think about it.”

Discussing whether a return to Germany could be a possibility, he concluded: “Of course, the Bundesliga, which he continues to follow closely, would be one of the first options.”

Having signed a three-year deal upon his arrival in London, Leistner's current contract at QPR is not set to expire until the summer of 2021, although he has played just nine minutes of league football this season.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one.

Considering how impressive Leistner was at QPR last season, I'm still quite surprised that they are willing to let him go this summer.

Given that is the stance they have taken however, you feel it would be hard to blame him were he to look elsewhere, particularly given the lack of football he has had at Rangers so far this season.

The fact that Leistner is not pushing for a move though, does seem to reflect well on the defender, suggesting he is taking the approach of getting his head down and looking to play his way back into the squad if no opportunities arise elsewhere, which seems to show the defender's maturity in a difficult situation.
