Nottingham Forest announced their retained list on Tuesday afternoon and long-serving stalwarts Jack Hobbs, David Vaughan and Chris Cohen have all seen their contracts expire at the City Ground, while Ashkan Dejagah departs following the end of his short-term contract.

It seems likely that more players will leave the club during the summer as boss Aitor Karanka looks set to continue his rebuilding process on the Forest squad, and that could be bad news for several contracted members of the current crop.

It looks set to be an interesting summer for those of a Forest persuasion and the Reds’ Spanish manager will be desperate to create a group capable of challenging in the higher echelons of the Championship table.

With that in mind, Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at three deals that could go through pretty quickly at the City Ground.

The attacking midfielder was a revelation for Forest during a loan spell from Cardiff City and boss Aitor Karanka has already confirmed his desire to sign the player on a permanent deal.

With the Bluebirds winning promotion to the Premier League it seems unlikely that Tomlin will feature much for them next season and a permanent move to the Reds would probably be attractive to the player.

With Forest clearing out some of the deadwood it seems likely that a chunk of the wage budget will now go towards bringing Dawson back to the City Ground, after narrowly missing out on his signature back in January.

Dawson would be a romantic signing for the Reds given that he started his professional career at the City Ground before signing for Tottenham and going on to become an England international.

Whilst it won’t officially emerge which players have been told by the Forest boss that they are free to leave the club, it won’t be overly surprising if Jamie Ward is one to depart this summer.

The Northern Ireland international rarely played during a loan spell at Cardiff during the second half of the campaign and his time as a Forest player doesn’t look like extending beyond the summer transfer window.

Forest fans, would you agree with these three deals? Let us know in the comments below!!!
