After a turbulent season thus far, Queens Park Rangers are on the lookout for a new manager with just seven league games left to play this term.

The R's were hoping for a bright, steady future under Steve McClaren when the former England manager replaced Ian Holloway at the end of last season, after a disappointing campaign culminated in a 16th placed finish.

The 57-year-old's tenure started off in dismal fashion, conceding 13 league goals and losing their opening four league games. But the West London side did eventually pick up though, with a run of just three defeats in 15 games igniting their play-off dream.

Despite optimism at Christmas time however, 2019 has been a torrid one for the club so far, and ultimately, a 2-1 home defeat to struggling Bolton Wanderers at the weekend proved to be the final nail in McClaren's coffin at Loftus Road.

In some ways, you have got to feel for the former Newcastle boss - he wasn't really given the opportunity to mark his own stamp on the club when they were hit with a transfer embargo at the start of the season, meaning that he could only sign players on loan or on a free transfer.

But the squad he assembled was still capable of finishing in the top-half, and after just one league win in their previous 15 league outings, it was the right decision to let him go.

QPR fans have surely got to be excited about this news. McClaren wasn't everyone's cup of tea at Loftus Road, and the club can now prepare for the end of the season on the search for a new manager.

Of course, they aren't out of the woods just yet - they sit only eight points clear of the drop-zone, so their next managerial appointment has to be spot on, and it also has to be swift.

There are plenty of names out there that would appeal to fans, so what was shaping up to be a drab end of the season for the club, has now turned into an eventful one for sure.
