Leeds have established themselves as one of the main contenders and under the management of Marcelo Bielsa and they will be confident of retaining their place in the promotion hunt as the season progresses.

They are currently sat 3rd in the Championship table and with Bielsa's side just three points adrift of top-spot, they certainly have a chance of returning to the Premier League in this year's campaign.

However, the Whites have had their fair share of injuries and Bielsa's options are becoming limited which will be a concern ahead of a busy festive period which could define their season.

The Leeds boss is seemingly making movements towards bolstering his current options with the January transfer window approaching.

The promotion chasers have been linked with a move for Benfica youngster, Chris Willock, who is one of England's brightest young prospects.

Willock has made 35 appearances for the Benfica B side since making the move from Arsenal in the summer of 2018 and he could be an excellent addition to Leeds if he is to join Bielsa's side.

But could Willock play a significant role in Leeds' promotion push this season?

We look at three reasons why he could be the missing piece in the jigsaw for Marcelo Bielsa's side...

Willock's talent is evident and has been ever-present in the Three Lions' youth squads from the under 16's all the way up to the under 20's side.

Leeds would have a real talent on their hands if they managed to persuade the youngster to join the club, and he could be the missing piece in the jigsaw in their promotion bid this season.

It's no secret that Marcelo Bielsa's training methods have come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with his injury list mounting up ahead of a hectic festive period.

Willock would provide Leeds with some much-needed depth in the midfield with squad rotation likely in the new year as Bielsa keeps his squad fresh ahead of the promotion run in.

Marcelo Bielsa seems to have found a way to get the best out of some underperforming players at Leeds since he arrived at the club.

The likes of Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez have been in excellent form since Bielsa took over at Leeds and Willock could be another young player that thrives under the guidance of Bielsa who has already given some youngsters a chance in the first-team squad at Elland Road.
