Sheffield United earned themselves a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough earlier this week in what was a gutsy display from Chris Wilder’s men.
Many were wondering how the Blades were going to respond having collapsed at Villa Park last Friday night – turning a 3-0 win into a 3-3 draw with Aston Villa in a matter of minutes.
However, this was a much different game and the Blades eventually won out thanks to Richard Stearman’s effort in the second half.
For many, though, it was Gary Madine that made the difference for the Blades – with him coming on from the bench up top.
Madine hasn’t always been the most prolific striker but since joining the club in January – despite some reservations given previous employers – he has actually got many onside.
Indeed, his hold-up play on Wednesday night was exemplary and, clearly, he looks another shrewd piece of Chris Wilder business.
And, that said, the reaction on Twitter from fans and journalist Danny Hall suggested that there might well be a case for him to get the nod up top from the off this weekend – given the praise handed him.
That in mind, then, should he be starting this Saturday against Reading? Have your say in the poll below!
