Greg Cunningham may not be playing for Cardiff City this season having been loaned out to fellow Championship club Blackburn Rovers, but fans of the Bluebirds will still have their feelings toward Cunningham's injury.

Cunningham has been ruled out for a number of months after tearing his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in the defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, and he has a long road ahead of him as he looks to recover quickly from this latest injury setback.

This latest injury setback for Cunningham isn't the first time that he has had to deal with a serious injury, having broken his leg in both 2011 and 2017.

Fulham fans would have been watching their loan player with much interest to see how he manages at a club in the same division as them, however, this latest injury blow for Cunningham will likely seal his fate as a contracted player with Cardiff.

Having only been used eight times last season by Neil Warnock and immediately loaned out for this season, it's obvious to see that the experienced, tough-talking manager has no plans for the 28-year-old in his Cardiff plans while he's at the helm in the Welsh capital.

Cardiff fans will feel that Cunningham could have contributed to their season following relegation from the top flight back in May, as the full-back has played plenty of games in England's second tier for the likes of Preston North End, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest. Cunningham's calmness on the ball, experience in the defence and his leadership could have been an asset to Warnock's Bluebirds this season however the defender finds himself frozen out of the setup at The Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff fans will feel that their player had a lot to offer the side if he was chosen after putting in some good cameo appearances during Cardiff's tough and brief one year stay in the top flight, but they have to agree that Cunningham now doesn't have much of a chance under Warnock despite him suiting the types of players that the former Sheffield United boss likes to have in his team and around his squad as depth.
