Bristol City midfielder Han-Noah Massengo signed for the club from Monaco in the summer and has had a good start to his individual season so far.

However, Massengo could already be finding himself dropped to the bench permanently with the return of Hungarian international Adam Nagy from injury and Korey Smith stepping up his return from injury by recently featuring in an under-23s game.

The 18-year-old has worked his socks off and put in strong performances during the early parts of his season before those performance levels dropped off and Massengo found himself sitting on the bench in recent weeks as his team-mates have gone on and pushed the Robins back into the play-offs.

The young French midfielder knows that he has the talent to compete in the Championship with his tenacious play and being able to dictate the play from a deep lying playmaker role on the field, however, Nagy and Smith are both capable of doing the same.

The fears would have grown stronger for Massengo during the Severnside derby win at Cardiff City on Saturday, the Frenchman having to settle for a spot on the bench as Nagy was pushed straight into the starting lineup for his first Robins outing since August.

Massengo was forced to watch the whole game from the bench, as Nagy put in an impressive 90 minutes of football where he was able to hold his position in front of the defence while also going forward to join attacks when needed to.

The 18-year-old will be disappointed to see that Nagy now appears to be ahead of him in the Robins pecking order, and he will have to work hard in training now to prove to manager Lee Johnson that he deserves a spot within the starting lineup ahead of the returning Nagy and Smith.

Hard work comes naturally to the frizzy-haired teenager, and while he will be able to learn by watching Nagy and Smith out on the pitch, the fears for his spot within the Bristol City side will only intensify if he doesn't get picked ahead of the pair when the international break is over.
