Millwall are bracing themselves for a late swoop from Middlesbrough for midfielder George Saville.

According to the Teeside Gazette, Tony Pulis has reignited his interest in the 25-year-old, and Millwall supporters should be worried at the prospect of losing one of their main men.

Millwall have been able to keep hold of their entire squad from last season, but that could all soon change.

The partnership of Shaun Williams and Saville in the Lions midfield is a partnership that just works, the pair know each other's games inside out and work well off one another - and it benefits the team no end when both play.

Should Saville leave; however, the Lions fans need to be pretty worried and wonder who will be his replacement.

If the Lions are without one of Williams or Saville, the midfield suffers.

This was evident in the last two fixture against Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United.

Saville was forced off at half-time having suffered a concussion, and with Shaun Williams missing, Conor McLaughlin had to deputise in the midfield.

Neil Harris’ men looked lost in the middle of the part, and it must certainly fill Millwall supporters with dread should Saville be sold.

Onto Sunday, and Williams was back, but Saville was still out while he recovered from the concussion suffered four days earlier.

There was still something missing in the middle of the part with the former Wolves man, that bit of bite and vigour to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

And that should be cause for concern to Lions fans.

A loan with a view to a permanent come January for a free in the region of £5million is being reported and, the money would help, of course.

The Millwall faithful, however, need to be worried that so close to the deadline, a star performer from last season could be off.

Now, Harris will not let him leave unless a suitable replacement is brought in.

It will be an anxious few days for the club’s supporters who must have their reservations at losing their box-to-box midfielder with the loan window open for four more days.
