What a night it was for all concerned with Nottingham Forest on Monday, as they defeated Derby County a goal to nil to put their play-off push back on track.

The Reds, after winning one of their last four games and drawing two games in a row, had slipped away from the Sky Bet Championship play-off places, with a win over the Rams vital in their push for the top six.

But Frank Lampard's men didn't know what had hit them when Yohan Benalouane converted from a free-kick with just two minutes on the clock, which then set the tone for the rest of the match.

The Reds were dominant in every area - Daryl Murphy worked his socks off up front, the midfield trio of Ben Watson, Jack Colback and Ryan Yates were as solid as ever, and the magnificent duo of Alex Milosevic and Benalouane limited Derby to very few chances, if any.

Forest have failed to field a consistent back-line this season, with plenty of different defensive pairings being tried over the course of the season - but it is clear that Milosevic and Benalouane is now the way forward.

The duo have quickly forged a good understanding with each other, and they are the no-nonsense centre-backs that Forest fans have been craving all season.

The pair's impressive form could really affect Tobias Figueiredo - the defender has been out with injury for nearly two months, but could face another battle in getting into the side when he does eventually return from his spell on the sidelines.

The Portuguese centre-half has endured a turbulent season at the City Ground - he has failed to stamp his authority in the first-team having been sent off against Aston Villa earlier on in the season, and has endured a tricky time with injury too.

The 25-year old hasn’t featured for the East Midlands club since the end of December against Queens Park Rangers after picking up a dead leg injury, and as he looks to make a return to first-team action, he could find his first-team chances very limited.

With January signing Molla Wague also struggling to break into the side, it looks like it will be very tough for Figueiredo to earn a starting berth under O’Neill whilst the pair continue to perform as they currently doing.
